Attabad lake hunza the Best place to visit in Pakistan

        Although Pakistan is full of natural beauty, mostly in the northern region of Pakistan, which includes Gilgit Baltistan and KPK. the beauty of those regions is, these regions have all four kinds of weather in a year, have beautiful mountains, also have waterfalls, & they have wonderful rivers floating through it, etc. other then this there is a special place where every tourist wants to visit whenever they visit Gilgit Baltistan; that is, Attabad lake Hunza.  The beauty of this lake is that it's located in the right middle of two mountains, and the lake water is sky-blue.

History of Attabad lake

Attabad lake is located in gojal and come into form on 4th January 2010 due to a landslide, the landslide killed 20 people and blocked the Hunza river for almost five months which formed a huge lake that covers 3 more villages due to stopping the flow of Hunza River. The lake now has a length of almost 21 km and 365ft in depth which was a lot more in-depth and width initially. 

Initial days when lake formed it's also damaged the Hunza - Gilgit road and the link from gojal to Hunza also blocked, due to which local people started boats to travel from one end of the lake to another end because they don't have other options to cross the lake, which was the basic necessity of gojal people, as they depend upon Hunza & Gilgit to fulfill there needs. So it took 2.5 to 3 hours to cross the lake in a boat and it was not safe as well. Many incidents also occurred in the lake as well where cars & trucks got sank due to heavy loads or balancing issues. 

So upper Hunza gojal faced too much difficulty during the initial days of this pandemic. 

The neighboring village ayeenabad completely merged with the lake and disappeared and the down areas of village shishkat also merged with the affected areas. 

The whole population of gojal, almost 30000 individuals, affected the lake.  Due to difficulty in road access to markets and hospitals etc.  

Inauguration of Attabad Tunnel.

On 14 September 2015, the prime minister of that time Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the realignment of a 24 km long patch of KKH containing five tunnels between the mountains. The project costs $275 million for the construction of the masterpiece. The project was completed with the partnership of china & Pakistan, it's also part of the CPEC (China-Pakistan economic corridor)

Projects. And it became one of the best places to visit in Pakistan. 

After the completion of this phenomenal Tunnel, it's become the most attractive place for tourists from all over the world to visit Attabad to see the beauty of the Tunnel, and lake & also see the mind-blowing engineering from china to complete such a long tunnel in few years.

These days there are many restaurants available for tourists and also speed boats to entertain tourists who want to ride the boat and explore the lake completely, the restaurant's out there are very well maintained and the view of the lake from these restaurants are phenomenal. It's almost 2.5 hour's drive from gilgit to attabad. One will love to spend some quality time in front of the beautiful attabad lake.

In winter the lake completely covered by snow and it's could be used for skating purposes but due to extreme cold weather people avoid experiencing it in winter's very few tourist travel toward attabad in winter but in summers it became (Lalukhait) due to a huge flow of tourists from all over Pakistan and from all over the world. 

So the lake which was a way of worry in past is now the way of joy and way of earning for local people and they became even more popular after this incident.
